Welcome to "Thesis for Master Degree in Microdata Analysis" for DS students at Dalarna University
The course starts (officially) from the second week of November. However, it is strongly advised that you start preparing your thesis idea in a good time before the actual course starts. You welcome to share your thesis proposal with the course examiner already now. By October 15 your proposal should be approved by the examiner. If you miss that deadline, a list of thesis proposals will be published on Canvas by October 17 and you can select 3 alternative topics for you (with an order of preference) by Nov. 2, 2026 and inform the course coordinator via e-mail (maa@du.se). After collecting all the students' preferences, topic allocation will be done on a zoom meeting on Nov. 3 and the allocation will be done in a way that maximizes students' satisfaction. You are advised to work in a pair (two student per thesis topic). However, it is OK to conduct thesis alone, if you have a strong reason for doing so. Please find more information about thesis work in the Course Handbook (see Modules). Any further information about the course will be communicated through this Canvas portal.
