Welcome to Energy Efficient Buildings

at Dalarna University


Welcome to the Energy efficient buildings. It is intended primarily for students taking the Master’s Programme in Energy efficient built environment. 

This course will give you the fundamental knowledge and understanding that you will build on throughout the rest of your studies. It introduces the basic principles of building physics and covers four main topics:

  • Heat transfer in buildings
  • Moisture transfer in buildings
  • Ventilation and indoor air quality
  • Lighting and daylighting

You will meet several teachers, each responsible for a specific part of the course:

  • Alaa, Lecturer in Building Technology – Heat and moisture transfer. We will have lectures, quizzes, discussions, and exercise sessions where we solve problems together.
  • John Are Myhren, Senior Lecturer in Building Technology – Ventilation. He will introduce different ventilation systems and lead practical laboratory work.
  • Jingchun Shen (Vicky), Senior Lecturer in Building Technology – Lighting and daylighting.
  • Puneet Saini, Lecturer in Energy Technology – Software practice.
