Course syllabus
Welcome to PV Technology at Dalarna University
This course start on Monday 21st of September. The lessons in this course will be taught at Campus Borlänge and streamed via Zoom. Recorded material will be made available on our learning platform, and Zoom will be used for digital meetings. This course is taught in collaboration with the Technical University of Ulm in Germany including teachers and students from Ulm. Therefore this course is taught during two intensive weeks where you have no other activities in other courses of the Master program.
When you take this course, you will learn how to:
- analyse and explain the physical processes that determine the output of different types of solar cells, and relate this to the physical models that can be used to calculate this output,
- explain the mechanism that generate current and voltage in illuminated semi-conductors,
- describe how solar cells are used to create PV modules and discuss the manufacturing processes of these,
- explain the characterisation methods for solar cells and PV modules and explain typical failure mechanisms.
The schedule is provided in Timeedit.
On Friday 25th of September we will have a whole day study visit to Stockholm and Västerås.
