Course syllabus
Welcome to "Research and Knowledge for the Social Sciences" at Dalarna University
The course “Research and Knowledge for the Social Sciences” aims to ease students into the academic environment by providing skills and knowledge to help with writing assignments, participating in seminars and contributing to tutorials. Using tourism theory and discourse, the course introduces students to critical thinking and the basics of social science research. The course offers students the opportunity to develop their analytical and evaluative skills so that they become able to connect ideas, theories, and frameworks within an interdisciplinary context. The course introduces students to literature reviews and critical reviews of literature, qualitative and quantitative data, and secondary sources.
This is a campus-based course that runs at a 50% rate over five weeks. The course is composed of lectures, workshops, two individual assignments and group work – see more details in the course handbook and under "Assignments".
