Course syllabus
Welcome to "Intercultural Literature Studies: Fiction in its Original Language" at Dalarna University
In this course, you will get an opportunity to broaden your knowledge of the literary works of a certain author, a certain genre, or a certain period and place. You will make a selection of fictional texts that are connected in some relevant way that makes sense in relation to your future MA thesis project. These should be read and studied in their original language of publication, which should not be your mother tongue. The number of pages to be read is not specified, as the complexity of the texts and the language may affect what is feasible. You will discuss this with the teacher, and the other students, in the first seminar.
In addition to reading the actual works, you will also study the context of the texts, of which you will make a presentation in the second seminar. The main and final assignment is a written analysis of the chosen works, in the form of a critical review/reviews, which will also be presented orally in the last seminar.
