Welcome to "Data Science & Machine Learning" at Dalarna University

The course starts in week 14 and then follows this schedule: Data Science and Machine Learning (see link to external site). This is an on-campus course held at Campus Borlänge, and most of your lessons will take place on campus, although some sessions will occasionally be conducted via Zoom.

This course is a continuation of the programming courses and the statistics course, and is primarily intended for students in the Information Systems program.

The course is mainly practical in nature, with a lot of interesting and enjoyable work in the form of labs and assignments.

Data science is often described as the process of extracting knowledge and insights from different data sources. It includes a range of overlapping tasks, including data collection, preparation, data quality assurance, analysis, visualization, and storage. These tasks use tools from empirical sciences such as statistics, business intelligence, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The goal is to enable effective, pragmatic, and actionable decision-making.
