Course syllabus
Welcome to English for Primary Teachers, Years 4-6, 1b
The course English for Primary Teachers, Years 4–6, 1b is designed to develop teacher students’ knowledge of the English subject and their didactic competence. The 15 credit course combines two key areas: English Language Learning and Teaching (ELLT) and Literature and Culture in English (LCE). Students will engage with scholarly perspectives on language didactics and literature teaching, with a particular focus on English literature and culture, language awareness, grammar, lesson planning, assessment, and policy documents. Through both analytical and creative approaches students will deepen their subject knowledge and develop practical strategies for teaching English in the Years 4–6 classroom.
This course includes two obligatory campus days for all students. These will take place between 4-5 December, at Falun campus.
A preliminary course schedule will become available in the Modules section in week 44. Please make sure that you will have access to the required books on the reading list for the duration of the course.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
David, Katherina and Parvin
