Welcome to the course Electrical principles at Dalarna University
Welcome to the course Electrical principles (GET36T). This is the first course in the "electrical track" of the Batchelor engineering program in Sustainable Energy Systems. This track consist of four courses, Electrical principles, Electrical Power Engineering, Electrical Machines and drives and, finally, Active electrical networks. You who are program student will in these four courses be joined by students who take one or more of these courses as independent courses. If you are one of the latter students you likely are either a guest students at the university or an engineer/technician professionally active and who want to deepen the knowledge of electrical systems.
All four courses in the electrical track are given in English. Most lectures and all problem solving sessions will be given live in Borlänge Campus, online in Zoom and will be recorded for students who study the material later. A few lectures will be prerecorded.
Learning the physics of electrical systems means studying theoretical material from the course book, lectures and problem solving sessions, but a very important part of the course is also to deepen the understanding by means of laboratory work and simulation of systems with computational tools. The course contains one introductory home lab and two lab works on site in Borlänge. There is also one simulation assignment introducing the simulation tool LT-Spice.
In the electrical track you will meet teachers and researchers from our own university, but also supporting professional engineers from Hitachi Energy in Ludvika. In this course Anton Fedorov will supervise the lab works in the campus laboratory. This mix of academic researcher's and professionally active engineers provide a strong team for guiding you as a student in the learning process of electrical systems.
