Course syllabus
Welcome to Outdoor Education in Science at Dalarna University
The educational value of hands-on outdoor learning in science is in focus throughout this course. Through laborative, experimental, experiential, and field-based forms of work, scientific theory, phenomena, and processes are studied in natural settings.
In the field-based elements of the course are health aspects of outdoor education as well as issues of responsibilities, different ways of learning and the importance of a varied outdoor environment for concentration, learning, health and motoric development treated.
During the course you will develop your pedagogical awareness and practical skills in outdoor science education.
The course is given from week 14 until week 23, that is from March 31st until June 6th. Here is a reading list. Here is a revised schedule (20250328).
