Welcome to "Organisational Theory" course at Dalarna University

This course is a part of the the Bachelor’s Programme in International Tourism Management, and is also offered to Erasmus students.

The course introduces and explores fundamental concepts and theories related to organisation structure, culture, work organisation, communication, power and conflict, leadership and management. The development of these concepts and theories is presented and discussed within both historical and contemporary contexts.

The course runs from week 46/2024 to week 3/2025 on the Borlänge campus and is delivered at a 50% study pace, meaning you are expected to dedicate approximately 20 hours per week to your studies.

Course Content Outline

The course is divided into two modules: Concepts and Theory and Applied Analysis.

In the first module, you will attend lessons to learn key concepts, models, and theoretical perspectives related to the study of organisations. This module concludes with a written examination in week 51.

In the second module, you will apply these theoretical frameworks, concepts, and models to a case study, which you will present during seminars in weeks 2 and 3.
(Note for Erasmus students: If you are returning home for Christmas and will not be back afterwards, a hybrid seminar option will be available.)

Additional information, including the course schedule, will be published the week before the course begins.
