Course syllabus

Campus Borlänge

Dear students,

In this course, you will read and analyse several literary works written in both North and South America from a world-literature approach.  This concept will be used as an analytical lens and discussed through the study of a number of theoretical texts that will put into perspective the issues raised by these literary works.

Teaching

The course offers six seminars, each dedicated to different works and topics. You are expected to do preparatory readings before each seminar, in which you will discuss the texts with the other students and the teacher.

Examination

Besides the active participation in the seminars, and the study questions to be prepared before these, three days before each of the five seminars dedicated to the literary works you will leave a reflection of about 500 words and comment at least once on someone else's post on the Discussions Forum (Canvas) at the latest one day before each seminar.

At the end of the course, you'll be asked to hand in an essay of around 1,500 words.
