Welcome to "Data Warehousing" at Dalarna University
The course schedule in Time Edit
Start part 1 of the course here
Most of the lessons in this course will be taught at Campus Borlänge. Recorded material will sometimes be made available on our learning platform, and Zoom will be used for digital meetings.
The course is intended for students taking the Master’s Programme in Data Sciences and the Master's Programme in Business Intelligence.
When you take this course, you will study the following:
- Apply basic principles of relational databases in accordance with the relational model.
- Manipulate data and create, modify and delete database objects.
- Use concept modeling and graphical description techniques to design relational databases corresponding to at least the third normal form.
- Model data according to the principles of the Star and Snowflake schemas.
- Use ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to extract data from, change data in and add data to a data warehouse
- Design and implement a simpler business intelligence solution, based on data warehouse architecture evaluation
We hope you engage in inspiring, interesting, and challenging discussions with your teachers and fellow students. As with all courses at Dalarna University, this course has a strong foundation in theory and research.
An important feature in the design of the course is that it connects theory with practice. For example, we analyze and critically review scientific articles implementing DW solutions.
We view group work as an important resource in all course activities, made evident by the feedback of previous participants of the course, who highlighted the value of group discussions. Due to the broad scope of the course, it is impossible to go into depth on all topics, but we hope that what you learn will inspire interest and help you develop the tools you need in your continued professional development as a higher education teacher.
Here you can find a master schedule for the course (attach file).
