Welcome to Introductory Physiology and Applied Exercise Physiology (Climbing, Judo and Powerlifting) at Dalarna University

All lessons in this course will be taught online through Zoom. Recorded material will be made available on our learning platform.
This Exercise Physiology course is intended primarily for coaches and individuals with an interest in how the body’s systems (muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, and endocrine) function and respond to physical activity, providing a scientific basis for relevant training practices.

We hope you engage in inspiring, interesting, and challenging discussions with your teachers and fellow students. As with all courses at Dalarna University, this course has a strong foundation in theory and application. An important feature in the design of the course is that it connects theory with practice. Therefore, we will engage you in seminars where you will be discussing how these physiological systems function together during exercise.

We view group work as an important resource in all course activities, made evident by the feedback of previous participants of the course, who highlighted the value of group discussions.

Due to the broad scope of the course, it is impossible to go into depth on all topics, but we hope that what you learn will inspire interest and help you develop the tools you need in your continued professional development as a coach. We will point you in the right direction for deepening your understanding during the lectures and seminars.

SCHEDULE: Under the 'Modules' tab you can find a master schedule for the course. Any updates will be announced through the Announcements section.

TEXTBOOK: We have found options that are available as hard copies through the DU library, as well as e-book  and digital copies via bookshops/free downloads.
