Course syllabus
Welcome to "Applied Project in Tourism" at Dalarna University
Welcome to " Applied Project in Tourism". It is intended for students taking the Bachelor’s Programme in International Tourism Management.
Course Content
In this course students will work on an applied project of their choice in collaboration with a company/organisation. The aim of the course is to link theory with practice and contribute to transferable skills such as ability to collaborate, understand and work towards the needs of a company/organisation, organise and plan the work, report in oral and written forms, gain practical knowledge of how the work in tourism related organisations and companies. Very importantly, the course aims to enable student to use the knowledge they have developed during their studies in an applied project in the field of tourism and reflect on the linkages between theory and practice.
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Identify, formulate and discuss problems and opportunities relating to the practices and vision of a tourism, leisure and hospitality organisation.
- Establish and present a plan for a clearly defined project linked to an organisation.
- Discuss acquired knowledge concerning the activities of the organisation with a connection to the project.
- Connect previously acquired theoretical knowledge with practical application in the project and discuss this.
We hope you engage in inspiring, interesting, and challenging discussions with your teachers and fellow students. As with all courses at Dalarna University, this course has a strong foundation in theory and research.
The aim of the course is to bride theory with practice. By working on an applied project, students will connect to their studies to identify areas of knowledge to connect back to the practice and inform their project
