Course syllabus
Welcome to GTR22D Research and Knoweldge for the Social Sciences at Dalarna University
Starting university can be daunting. The transition from school or work to tertiary education is often difficult. This course aims to ease students into the academic environment by providing skills and knowledge to help with writing assignments, participating in seminars and contributing to tutorials. Using a participatory approach, students will learn and practice skills to help with assignments and life-long learning. Students will understand their own learning style and gain competence in basic knowledge gathering practices. Through in-class exercises and written assignments, students will gain confidence in their abilities, understand where to find support and how to successfully complete university assignments.
This course is aimed at students entering Unviersity for the first time. It introduces students to basic research knowledge skills including critical reading, writing, and thinking skills. Based at the new Borlänge campus, this course helps to provide students with the academic skills necessary to succeed throughout their studies.
We hope you engage in inspiring, interesting, and challenging discussions with your teachers and fellow students. As with all courses at Dalarna University, this course has a strong foundation in theory and research.
