Welcome to KI1046 Chinese in Speech and Writing I
Registration
You need to register to the course via Ladok before the class starts. If you are a new student at Högskolan Dalarna, your log-in information will be sent to you at the latest in the week before the course begins.

This is a comprehensive language course and you are going to learn the Chinese language through intensive training of listening, speaking, reading, writing and intercultural communication!
This is a web-based course, all lectures and examinations are conducted in our virtual classroom on Zoom. Course administration and communications are managed via email and Canvas. You are not required to attend any on-campus classes or activities at Dalarna University.
If you are new to distance education, or you've never had experience with virtual (online) classrooms, please read the following information carefully before the course starts.
Learning mode and attendance
This course emphasizes on continuous assessments and students have to attendance all the lectures in order to pass one stage of study to the next. Meanwhile, they will have to hand in assignments each week.

Note: There are three courses in the Chinese I course package (30hp). KI1046 Chinese in Speech and Writing I (15hp) is only one of them!

In KI1046 Chinese in Speech I, there are four study groups. Each group has different lecture times, but they cover the same teaching materials every week. Please select the group that best suits your schedule. After registering, you will have full access to this course canvas. Please navigate to Modules, and Group Sign-Up to join a group.

You may join another group occasionally if you are unable to attend your own.
- Students applied for the day-time course please sign up to a day-time group. You can then move to an evening group from the 5th seminar.
Monday
Group 1: 18:15-20:15 (Reserved for students who applied for the evening course/course package)
Tuesday
Group 2: 14:00-16:00
Wednesday
Group 3: 10.00-12.00
Group 4: 18.00-20.00 (Reserved for students who applied for the evening course/course package)
Textbook
Integrated Chinese Textbook, 4th Ed., Volume 1, ; or 3rd Ed., Level 1 Part 1
*Search the book with ISBN: 9781622911356 (4th edition) or 9780887276446 (3rd edition)
*Make sure that you purchase the "textbook," not "workbook."

You can also subscribe to the Web Version or eTextbook Version (6-month).
All course materials are based on the 4th edition. However, the 3rd edition will work just fine.
