6. Mandatory days for on-campus attendence

Students admitted to the campus-based programme are expected to be present on campus for most lectures and scheduled learning activities.

Students enrolled in the distance-learning programme are mainly able to study remotely. However, there are specific occasions during the course when you are expected or encouraged to attend activities at Campus Borlänge. These occasions are divided into two categories:

  1. Mandatory Campus Days

Attendance on these days is compulsory for all students. Mandatory campus days include activities that require in-person participation, such as laboratory sessions and workshops. If you are unable to attend a mandatory campus day, you must inform both the teacher and the course coordinator in advance and provide a reason for your absence.

The first mandatory occasion for 2026 is scheduled for 1st, and 2nd October as you see in table below. The 2nd mandatory occasion is under planning and usually held in Week 6th of next year (i.e Week 6 of Year 2027)

Oct 1st 2026 Thursday

08:00-17:00

Labs in 2 courses

Oct 2nd 2026 Friday

09:00-15:00

Study visits

  1. Recommended Campus Days

These days are not compulsory, but on-campus attendance is strongly recommended for online students. They provide valuable opportunities to increase your learning, participate in study visits to different companies, and other important activities.

The main recommended campus days are:

  • Introduction Day: Held at the beginning of your studies. Several important introductory, academic, and social activities are planned on this day. See information below.

Date/Time

Aug 31st, 2026 Monday

Sept 1st 2026 Tuesday

Lectures and study visit

  • Final Presentation and Closing Ceremony: Held at the end of your studies and includes student presentations and the formal conclusion of the program with a faboulous closing ceremony in Falun. Usually held in Month May each year.

For Mandatory, and recommend campus days, We recommend booking your travel and accommodation well in advance.  Students travelling for such occasions need to arrange theor own accommodation.  There is a hostel in Borlänge (https://www.borlangevandrarhem.se/) and multiple hotels. The hostel is close to the main student accommodation, about a 25 minute walk to the campus. Our previous students have found houses on Airbnb, and many students have lived together, which has been very cost-effective solution.

9. Exams

Note that the first exam of any course is only organised on-campus. (i.e it is not possible to sit at home and give the exam online). So, your first option is to plan to travel to Borlänge for these days, and write exam.

For those living in other cities in Sweden, there is a possibility to give the exam at another location (learning center). This must be organised by student, well in time, to avoid a last-minute rush. You will find the learning centers and other information on the link

https://www.du.se/en/student-web/my-studies/assessment-and-examinations/exams-at-another-location/

The exam for course AEG2B6 Solar radiation and geometry, is scheduled for October 20th, 2026 (09:00-13:00). Exam for course By3001 energy efficient buildings is currently under planning, and the date/time will be updated later.

We will have a Whatsapp group for easy communication. I will share the link once it is finalised.
