Course syllabus
Welcome to "Spatial Data and GIS" at Dalarna University
The last 20 years the amount of accessible spatial data has grown enormously due to several factors. The first is the spread of GPS system which has made it possible to record precise location of spatial objects. It has also facilitated the recording of movement. Together with the spread of Internet, spatial data that is publicly accessible has increased enormously.
In order to be able to handle spatial data users need to have specialized knowledge in both dedicated softwares and also have an understanding of some important characteristics of spatial data.
The basis for this course is practical exercises where spatial data is handled with different software and spatial data is discussed in seminars.
