Welcome to Data Storage and Management Technologies
at Dalarna University
All of the lectures in this course will be taught with recorderd lectures on-line.

Overview of the whole course
Part 1 of the course (week 36, 37, 38 and 39)
This part is about:
- PLSQL Packages
- Requriment analysis
- Information models and SQL
- Information models for spatial data
- Data quality management
- Start write a report (the assignment) about Data Warehouses and Data Lakes etc.

Part 2 of the course (week 40, 41, 42 and 43)
This part is about:
- Introduction to Linux
- Introduction to NoSQL
- SQL vs NoSQL , A summary comparison
- Introduction to NoSQL data models (Key/Value, Column, Document, Graph) with short examples. Graph part also including basics of GDS
- Neo4j - basics
- Hadoop Distributed File System – basics
- Database Index
- Hand in the report (the assignment) about Data Warehouses and Data Lakes etc.

Examination
In order to pass the course you must do the following things:
- Laboratory work (4,5 credits) Grade: U-G. This is represented by four labs during the course, two during part 1, two during part 2.
- Assignment (3,5 credits) Grade U-VG. This is represented as a written report with a presentation.
Everything you do in this course will be group work with max 3 students in each group. We have already created a number of groups. You can enroll in these groups yourself.
NOTE! Each submission must have a recorded presentation. During the presentation all members of the group must be active.
